As an academic hospital affiliated with the Ruth & Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, furthering research is integral to the activities of Rambam Health Care Campus.
Two additional world-class facilities are located on Rambam Health Care Campus: The Ruth & Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine and the Rappaport Family Institute for Research in the Medical Sciences. Together, with Rambam, these institutions routinely cooperate with each other in patient care, education, and research. Close proximity to Haifa University likewise facilitates collaboration with colleagues there.
Innovation in medicine often begins at the bedside—where the need is immediate. The transformation of research into life-giving therapies and treatments is a long and often thankless road. Ideas may take years to be actualized.
Research at Rambam Health Care Campus is divided into two main areas: The Research and Development Unit and the Clinical Research Institute at Rambam (CRIR).
Research and Development
The R&D Unit links the clinical and research activities of Rambam to the business sector. Activities include:
The Clinical Research Institute at Rambam (CRIR)
The CRIR fosters collaboration with the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology to bring research to life by joining the biomedical and life science industries with medical discovery. Established in 2008, the CRIR is a natural progression of Rambam's ongoing efforts to integrate bedside teaching and research to benefit the public at large.
Under the leadership of Prof. Michael Aviram, the CRIR is establishing Centers of Excellence to focus on advanced clinical research in targeted fields of high medical relevance. These centers will contribute to the development of Northern Israel and the Galilee by attracting bright young scientists and clinical practitioners, and generating new national and international collaborations. The resulting innovative research discoveries will facilitate life-changing therapies and treatments and seal Rambam’s commitment to bring health and healing to all.
