First in Northern Israel: A New Service for Diagnosis and Treatment of Pediatric Liver Diseases
April 11, 2022 – Leading the new service will be Professor Ronen Arnon, an internationally recognized pediatric liver disease specialist who recently joined Rambam Health Care Campus as a senior physician and Head of the Pediatric Liver, Gastroenterology and Pediatric Nutrition Institute in Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital.
To meet the growing needs of Northern Israel, Rambam has established a new service for diagnosing and treating pediatric liver diseases. This unique service focuses on the many different types of pediatric liver disease, including inherited and acquired illnesses, and also provides follow-up care for children who received liver transplants either within Israel or overseas.
The service’s medical team has a vision for personalized, cutting-edge medical treatment that always keeps sight of the individual needs of these young patients and their families. The multidisciplinary staff of doctors, nurses, psychologists, clinical nutritionists, and others is working in close coordination with pediatric experts in gastroenterology, imaging, and liver surgery. For patients with more complicated conditions, the service has access to multiple specialists in related fields, including metabolic disorders, pulmonary diseases, and cystic fibrosis.
The new service is led by Professor Ronen Arnon, an internationally recognized expert with more than 15 years of experience specializing in pediatric liver diseases. Prior to Rambam, Professor Arnon was a Professor of Pediatrics and a Pediatric Hepatologist at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, where he held the position of Medical Director, Pediatric Liver Disease and Transplantation for nine years. He has published more than 85 articles on pediatric hepatology in prestigious medical journals and has also authored multiple sections on the subject in leading medical textbooks.
The new service will complement the wide array of medical specialties offered by Rambam's Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital.
