Swim from the Heart to be Held on Friday, May 28th
May 25, 2021 – “Swim From the Heart - Cape Carmel” will be held to raise awareness of and mobilize funding for research for preventing sudden cardiac death in children and adolescents.
Hundreds of swimmers including children, teenagers, and adults are expected to participate in this year’s annual “Swim from the Heart”, which will be held on Friday, May 28th, 2021. This is the swim’s sixth year.
The swim is led by the Haifa Municipality Sports Authority in cooperation with Rambam Health Care Campus, and there will be three heats: "Amateur" (900 meters), "Intermediate" (2.5 km), and "Advanced” (4.2 km), in which the participants will swim around Cape Carmel.
The swim has become a tradition in the city, promoting the special social-medical goal of saving lives by raising awareness and funds to promote Rambam-led research for predicting and preventing sudden cardiac death among children and young people up to the age of 35.
The swim will take place in three parts:
The long 4.2 km "Advanced" heat will be launched from Haifa’s Bat Galim Beach [near the lower cable car station] at 07:15.
The 2.5 km “Intermediate” heat will be launched from the Carmel Beach at 07:30.
The 900-meter “Amateur” heat will be launched from Dado Beach at 8:45.
The swimming courses will be marked with buoys and the swimmers will be accompanied by rescue and medical teams in boats and kayaks.
The swim joins a series of recent water sport events in Haifa, including "The Bay Rower", during which dozens of Sap surfers rowed from Acre to Haifa, the "Storm Rider" surfing competition, and the surfing competition held on the open beach.
