Melbourne’s Jewish and Medical Communities Host Successful Meetings with Visiting Rambam Director
Rambam Director Dr. Michael Halberthal recently travelled to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, to raise awareness of Rambam Health Care Campus. During the course of his visit, which was hosted by Australian Friends of Rambam, Halberthal attended a series of events held in his honor, met with leaders and members of the local community, and toured the Alfred and Monash medical centers.
A highlight of Dr. Halberthal’s visit was an event that took place at Melbourne’s Raheen, a noted historical structure and the residence of philanthropist Jeanne Pratt, in the presence of approximately 100 attendees as well as Israeli Ambassador to Australia, Mark Sofer. Professor Jeffrey Rosenfeld, President of the Australian Friends of Rambam, addressed the guests before inviting Dr. Halberthal to speak about Rambam, with a focus on the security issues faced by the medical center. During the course of the evening, Sofer and Pratt both spoke warmly about Rambam, mentioning the hospital’s significant impact.
Another event was hosted by the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce, where a luncheon was held at downtown Melbourne’s well-known Crown Casino Hotel. During the course of the event, Dr. Halberthal presented an in-depth overview of Rambam. The event was well attended and guests included representatives from leading companies interested in medtech, businesspeople, doctors and researchers.
In addition, Dr. Halberthal met with Victoria’s Minister of Health, Jenny Mikakos, to discuss the groundbreaking work that Rambam is doing, as well as opportunities for collaboration between Rambam and hospitals in the State of Victoria.
“I was pleased to have this chance to travel to Australia and raise awareness of Rambam and all of the important work we do. I believe that the meetings we had and the events that were held have strengthened our ties with the local Jewish community as well as our professional connections within the Australian medical community, creating a huge opportunity for mutually beneficial collaboration between our institutions,” said Halberthal.
