Rambam General Director Dr. Michael Halberthal Participates in FIDF Webinar about Hospital’s COVID-19 Facility
November 19, 2020 – An FIDF webinar featuring Rambam’s General Director Dr. Michael Halberthal took an in-depth look at the hospital’s underground COVID-19 treatment center, which is the largest facility of its kind in Israel.
A webinar entitled “The Corona Ward at Rambam Hospital” took place earlier recently as part of the FIDF's "Behind the Headlines" webinar series. This virtual event featured Dr. Michael Halberthal, the General Director of Rambam Health Care Campus, and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ariel Furer, the Chief Medical Innovation Officer and Head of the IDF Medical Corps in Rambam’s COVID-19 facility, which is located in the Sammy Ofer Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital.
During the webinar, Dr. Halberthal and Lt. Col. Dr. Furer spoke about activities in the hospital’s underground treatment center, including the successful partnership between Rambam and the IDF to establish additional COVID-19 departments in the facility. These departments were designed and are being run by teams from the IDF Medical Corps.
Rambam’s COVID-19 facility is staffed by more than 5,300 hospital employees, an number that includes doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other medical staff from the IDF Medical Corps. The military medical staff were trained extensively by their counterparts from Rambam, and the training included theoretical and practical content to prepare them for treating COVID-19 patients.
